Hi there, and thanks for visiting my website. Let me take a few minutes to tell you a little bit about myself and my professional history as it concerns film, tv and media.

In May 2000, I graduated from Boston University magna cum laude with a B.S. in Film and Television. I then spent the next fifteen years dividing my career emphasis more or less evenly between film criticism, and film/television producing.

In terms of criticism: I spent several years researching, authoring and compiling a book entitled The Films of Louis Malle: A Critical Analysis, featuring original interviews that I conducted with Candice Bergen, Ed Harris, Susan Sarandon and others associated with Louis Malle; it was published by McFarland & Company to favorable reviews in November 2005. That same month, I accepted a full-time position as Content Editor for Movies in the Ann Arbor office of the All Media Guide (AMG), later bought by Rovi Corporation. That post – which lasted for nearly a decade- afforded the opportunity to write hundreds of original film reviews for multiple online outlets (Allmovie.com, TV Guide, MSN) and even attend the Sundance Film Festival twice (2013-14) as Rovi’s sole representative critic.

To me there are few experiences as exhilarating as sitting in the dark and assessing a motion picture’s strengths and shortcomings as I let the director’s vision emotionally overwhelm me. I also love the process of shaping a review that articulates how the creator(s) delivered, or fell short. My years at AMG offered that time and again. The most exciting aspect of the job, however, was developing and honing my own voice as a critic, which evolved dramatically over a decade and is still maturing. I believe this is a life-long process.

I also spent many years developing original filmed content, largely for television. This began with a year (2000-01) working as a longform development executive in the Los Angeles office of a Canadian studio, Alliance Atlantis, where I shepherded treatments for TV movies and miniseries through to production. My efforts later extended into several ambitious film and television projects that I shaped for production companies in the United States, Canada and the UK.

In recent years, my personal writing efforts have shifted to focus more heavily on fiction projects and essays, although I’m maintaining this site as an index for the film reviews and podcast work that I did under the AMG/Rovi imprimatur.  Full time, I’ve shifted gears to move into corporate work, in the arena of project coordination and management.

My c.v., film writings for AllMovie/Rovi, extracts from my Louis Malle book, and film-themed audio podcast series can be accessed on this site.
